Lumens describe total rated light output. They do not show how much light reaches your face at a particular distance, and CRI ratings alone do not determine the finished camera image.

Logitech Litra Glow

Litra Glow combines a small light panel with a monitor mount. It suits a desk where the screen is already close to the filming position and a separate light stand would be inconvenient.

Pros

  • The monitor mount can save desk surface space.
  • Physical buttons allow brightness and color adjustments without opening software.
  • USB power and a small panel make the setup easier to move between desks.

Cons

  • Its maximum rated output is lower than the Air’s.
  • Monitor mounting ties placement to the screen unless a separate support is used.
  • The included cable needs a suitable USB-A power connection; Logitech lists USB 3.0.

Best fit: Laptop or monitor-based calls and close desk recording where compactness matters.

Elgato Key Light Air, original

The original Air pairs a larger panel with a freestanding base. The stand gives a separate placement point beside the camera, while Control Center and Stream Deck integration serve a desk that stays assembled.

Pros

  • Higher rated output provides more adjustment headroom on paper.
  • The included stand allows placement independent of a monitor.
  • Phone or computer control can adjust the light without reaching over the desk.

Cons

  • The stand and dedicated power adapter take more space than a monitor-mounted USB light.
  • Brightness and color control depend on the networked control system.
  • Restricted Wi-Fi networks or discovery settings can complicate setup.

Best fit: A permanent recording desk with a power outlet, stand space and compatible Wi-Fi.

Do not confuse the original Air with Air MK.2

Elgato’s current product landing page describes a newer Air MK.2. This article and its Amazon destination concern the original 10LAB9901. The linked original support specifications are the basis for the table. Confirm the exact model and included adapter on the selected listing before checkout.

Output is only part of the lighting decision

The two lumen ratings should not be converted into a claim that one makes a face 5.6 times brighter. Distance, angle, diffusion and the camera’s exposure all affect the result. A light placed close to a seated speaker does a different job from one across a large desk.

For a tight workspace, first decide whether a monitor-mounted light can sit where you need it. For product demonstrations or an off-center camera, a freestanding light may make positioning easier. That is a layout advantage, not proof of better skin tones or measured video quality.

Physical controls versus network controls

Litra Glow’s buttons offer a direct adjustment path; G HUB adds software controls and presets. The original Air uses Elgato Control Center on supported desktop or mobile devices and supports Stream Deck integration.

Air uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and Elgato documents that multicast discovery and firewall settings affect detection. On a managed work network, confirm that discovery is allowed before choosing a light whose setting controls depend on it. A USB connection and physical buttons may be simpler for a travelling laptop setup.

Which setup fits your desk?

Choose Litra Glow when saving space and making quick manual adjustments are the priorities. Choose the original Air when independent placement and higher rated output justify a larger powered setup. Check available ports, outlets and stand space before treating a sale price as the deciding factor.
