Best for
Households choosing between a full-time toilet plunger and a concealed storage set built around the same BEEHIVE Max cup shape.
Probably not for

Both products use Korky's six-inch BEEHIVE Max head made from non-marking rubber. The manufacturer shapes it to fit outlets on older toilets and newer high-efficiency toilet designs. Because the working cup is closely related, this comparison should not invent a clearing-performance winner based on the holder or handle.
A toilet plunger depends on a seal around the outlet and controlled water movement. It is not the same tool as a flat sink plunger, and neither model is a substitute for a toilet auger when the obstruction sits beyond the bowl trap. Stop if the bowl is damaged, the obstruction may be a hard object or repeated plunging causes the water level to rise dangerously.
Before reaching for either model, stop the toilet from refilling if another flush could overflow the bowl. Remove nearby bath mats and supplies, prepare a washable path to storage and ventilate the room as appropriate. These preparation steps do not change the cup design, but they reduce the mess created when a usable tool is handled without a plan. Keep a separate cleaning cloth and disposal bag nearby so the tool does not have to cross the room untreated.
The standard model is ready without assembly
The 99-4A uses a fixed 15-inch T-handle. Take it from storage, place the rubber head carefully into the bowl and begin the controlled plunging sequence recommended by Korky. The simple handle avoids a telescoping joint and makes the tool easy to identify in a utility closet. Its tradeoff is a full-height object that remains visible without separate storage.
Choose a stable, washable container if you buy the standard plunger. Do not lean the wet cup against a wall or place it directly on a finished floor. A holder from another product is suitable only if it supports the plunger without squeezing or deforming the rubber and still permits the components to dry.
Hideaway packages storage into the purchase
The 97-5A adds a holder and a 16-inch collapsible T-handle. The holder conceals the cup and helps carry the tool after use without exposed drips crossing the room. The collapsing handle lowers the visual profile in storage. Before plunging, extend and secure the handle according to the instructions rather than applying force to a partly engaged joint.
Contained does not mean self-cleaning or germ-free. The holder can collect moisture and residue, so it needs the same attention as the plunger. Empty, clean and dry components using the manufacturer guidance. Store the unit where children cannot play with it and where the holder cannot tip into towels, paper supplies or toiletries.
Use technique before extra force
Position the cup so it seals around the toilet outlet and begin with controlled strokes that avoid splashing. Water in the cup helps transmit pressure. A rushed first push can send trapped air and contaminated water upward. Keep your face away from the bowl, wear suitable gloves and stop before the bowl approaches overflow.
Neither product page provides a comparative pressure measurement, and this guide did not test clearing speed or force. Do not add a chemical drain opener and then plunge, because the action can splash a corrosive product. If a chemical has already been used, follow its safety instructions and tell a plumber what is in the line.
Rubber condition matters on either model
Korky specifies non-marking rubber, but any cup can age, remain folded or pick up abrasive debris. Inspect the rim before use. A split, hardened or permanently distorted edge may not seal and should be replaced. Rinse away grit that could scratch the bowl. Do not cut the cup to change its shape or use it on a hot surface.
Let the head return to its intended shape before storing it. On the Hideaway, inspect the holder and handle joint as well as the cup. On the standard model, check the fixed handle connection. A plunger is inexpensive compared with water damage, so retire a tool that no longer remains secure under moderate controlled use.
Pay for storage only if storage is the problem
Choose the 99-4A if you already have a discreet, washable storage location and prefer a fixed handle with fewer parts. Choose the 97-5A if the tool will live in the bathroom and the included holder and collapsible handle solve a real placement problem. The extra pieces improve presentation and transport, not the documented cup size.
