These skillets are close in cooking diameter, but their handle geometry, factory seasoning and vessel shape make them different everyday tools.

Lodge L8SK3 10.25-Inch Cast Iron Skillet

Lodge lists the L8SK3 as a 10.25-inch seasoned cast iron skillet made in the United States. It has two pour spouts, a long integral handle and a short helper handle. That helper handle is useful when transferring a loaded pan with two protected hands. The skillet arrives seasoned with vegetable oil, but that does not make it identical to a coated nonstick pan. Its cooking surface still benefits from sensible preheating, enough fat for the food and prompt drying after washing.

Pros

  • Helper handle gives a second protected grip for lifting and serving.
  • Two pour spouts and broad heat-source compatibility suit varied kitchen and outdoor use.

Cons

  • The short helper grip may not feel as substantial as a full loop handle when wearing bulky mitts.
  • Cast iron weight and hand-dry care are unavoidable parts of ownership.

Who it’s for: Choose it if you want the familiar Lodge shape, a helper handle and widely available accessories. Skip it if low weight or dishwasher cleaning is a priority.

Victoria 10-Inch Cast Iron Skillet

Victoria specifies a 10-inch cast iron skillet with a deeper vessel, two pour spouts and a long curved handle. The company lists a 4.8-pound weight and overall dimensions of 16.3 by 11 by 2.8 inches. It is made in Colombia and preseasoned with flaxseed oil. Its longer curved grip changes leverage and handling, while the deeper wall can be helpful for sauces or ingredients that need more containment. The metal handle still becomes hot, so safe handling requires a mitt or cover.

Pros

  • Deeper vessel and curved long handle offer a different handling profile from the Lodge.
  • Official specifications include compatibility with induction, ceramic, gas, electric, oven, grill and campfire heat.

Cons

  • The listing does not provide the same compact helper-handle shape as the Lodge.
  • Factory seasoning still needs normal cast iron washing, drying and oil care.

Who it’s for: Choose it if a deeper vessel and longer curved handle are more useful than the Lodge shape. Skip it if you prefer the Lodge helper grip or want a shallower skillet.

The size labels are close, so compare the full shape

A 10-inch label is not a complete measurement standard. Lodge names its skillet by a 10.25-inch top diameter, while Victoria uses 10 inches and publishes larger overall dimensions that include the handle and pour-spout width. Neither label tells you the flat cooking-surface diameter. If burner fit or a specific lid matters, use the manufacturer drawing or measure the accessory instead of assuming every nominal 10-inch lid will seat the same way.

The more practical difference is shape. Victoria describes a deeper vessel and emphasizes its curved long handle. Lodge uses its established skillet profile with a small helper handle opposite the main grip. The helper handle can make a loaded skillet easier to stabilize with two protected hands. A deeper side wall can reduce the chance of pushing ingredients over the edge while stirring.

Seasoning is a starting layer, not a permanent coating

Both pans arrive preseasoned, but the oils differ. Lodge says it uses vegetable oil, while Victoria identifies flaxseed oil. Factory seasoning helps protect the iron and lets you begin cooking after following the initial care directions. It does not mean eggs will always release without technique, and it does not remove the need to dry the pan thoroughly after washing.

Seasoning changes with use and care. Heat the pan gradually, use cooking fat appropriate to the food, clean it without leaving it wet and apply a very thin oil layer when the surface needs it. If you want a pan that can sit wet in a sink or go through a dishwasher, neither cast iron skillet is a good match.

Heat-source versatility is nearly a tie

The two skillets can work on common stovetops, including induction, because the body is cast iron. The manufacturers also describe oven, grill and campfire use. That flexibility is useful, but it does not make every cooking situation identical. Match the pan base to the burner, avoid sudden temperature shocks and protect counters and tables from the hot iron.

Handle shape does not make the handle cool. The long grip, helper grip and pour-spout area can all become hot during stovetop or oven cooking. Decide where your mitts will sit and practice the lift while the pan is empty. For campfire use, plan stable support and long, heat-safe tools rather than relying on the household handle position alone.

How to choose between Lodge and Victoria

Choose the Lodge L8SK3 if the helper handle, classic shallower profile and made-in-USA specification are the deciding details. Choose the Victoria if you prefer its deeper vessel, long curved handle and flaxseed-oil factory seasoning. Those are design choices, not evidence that one brand cooks every food better.

Before ordering, open the exact listing and confirm the model, diameter and included item. Neither link is a set or a lidded skillet. Prices, sellers and bundles can change, so this comparison does not declare a value winner. The better purchase is the pan whose weight, grip and care routine you will comfortably use.
