OXO 11249100 vs Pyrex 6001003: Which 9-Inch Glass Pie Plate?
A matching lid is useful when the pie leaves the house. The more consequential difference is in the care instructions: OXO permits a specified freezer-to-oven transition, while Pyrex tells owners not to make that move directly.
Best for
Home bakers comparing nominal 9-inch glass dishes for pies, quiches and crumbles, including people who want a matching cover for storage or transport.
Probably not for
Broiler finishing, stovetop cooking, cookware that must tolerate impacts, or recipes that specifically require a deep-dish size without checking the required capacity.

If a pie usually cools on your counter and is served at the same table, a separate cover may add little. If it travels to family meals, the included cover can replace one item on the packing list. OXO calls its lid slosh-proof, but that is not a reason to carry a pie on its side or lift the whole dish by the lid. Support the dish and keep it level.
Consider the topping as well as the plate. A tall swirl of whipped cream or a decorative crust can need more headroom than an ordinary flat pie. Before relying on any fitted lid, check its clearance over the finished food. A larger carrier may still be the better choice for a presentation that rises well above the rim. The right cover is the one that fits what you actually bake.
Freezer-safe and freezer-to-oven are different claims
OXO's use-and-care guide permits its glass bakeware to move from a 0 F freezer to a fully preheated oven no hotter than 450 F. The same guide says the glass remains breakable and must be checked for chips or cracks. Pyrex's current instructions explicitly prohibit direct transfer from freezer to hot oven. That distinction matters for a recipe designed to bake from frozen.
Do not transfer an instruction from one brand to the other because both dishes look clear. Follow the current directions supplied with the exact dish as well as the recipe. If a recipe requires a temperature or transition outside those instructions, use suitable bakeware rather than improvising around the limit. For ordinary pies assembled and baked without freezing, this difference may not affect the purchase at all.
The same diameter does not guarantee the same recipe fit
Pyrex lists this model at approximately 9 inches across and 1.25 inches high. OXO describes its product as a 9-inch plate, but a shared nominal diameter is not proof of equal usable volume. Side slopes, rim shape and depth also affect how much filling a dish can accept. Avoid treating an outside shipping measurement or a lid measurement as the interior baking depth.
Start with the dish size and depth named in your recipe. If the recipe specifies deep-dish, verify that requirement separately. For a familiar filling that barely fits your current plate, compare the interior shape and usable fill line before replacing it. More filling is not automatically an improvement: it changes the relationship between crust, filling and the portion you expect to serve.
Clear glass helps observation, not automatic perfection
King Arthur Baking notes that clear glass lets a baker monitor crust color. That is a useful shared feature for someone learning when a bottom crust is sufficiently baked. It does not establish that one of these brands produces a crisper pie. Neither product specification supplies a controlled comparison of the two dishes with the same dough, filling and oven.
Choose a familiar recipe for the first use and follow its instructions for the specified pan material. Watch the bottom as well as the rim, using safe handling when checking. Record what worked in your own oven so the next bake starts from an observation rather than a brand claim. If the recipe was developed for metal, consult its substitution guidance instead of assuming that a change to glass leaves every baking step unchanged.
Plan the landing spot before opening the oven
Both brands require a fully preheated oven and protection from direct heat. Keep these dishes off stovetops and out from under a broiler. Have dry oven mitts and a dry, suitable resting surface ready before lifting a hot pie. Do not place hot glass into cold water or onto a wet surface, and do not continue using a dish with chips or cracks.
For cleaning, both glass dishes may go in the dishwasher under their instructions. The OXO lid belongs on the top rack and must be removed for oven or microwave use. Let the dish cool before cleaning and avoid abrasive tools. These are ordinary ownership steps, but they matter more than the familiar appearance of a glass pie plate might suggest.
Which one fits your routine?
OXO is the more useful package when you repeatedly need a matching lid or work from a frozen-pie recipe compatible with its instructions. Pyrex is a straightforward choice for a standard shallow pie served at home or carried in equipment you already own. Neither needs to win on every feature: choose the package that removes an actual recurring inconvenience.
Check the exact model and contents before ordering. This comparison covers OXO 11249100 and Pyrex 6001003, not Pyrex's larger Easy Grab or deep dishes, and not a third-party bundle with a different lid. Inspect the arriving glass before the first bake and keep its care sheet. A correct size and a workable handling routine are more valuable than buying from a product photograph alone.
