The threats I receive as a Muslim convert

A first-person account of what it can mean to post publicly as a Muslim convert wearing hijab when strangers decide that visibility gives them permission to intimidate.

Visibility should not be an invitation

People often dismiss online threats as “just the internet.” That phrase can flatten the real human experience of opening a message, watching a video sent to frighten you, and trying to decide whether the next step is a joke, a boundary violation, or something that needs to be documented. The uncertainty itself is part of the harm.

A hijab is read by some viewers as an invitation to debate, stereotype, or punish a person for a choice that belongs to her. This account refuses that framing. A woman should be able to share her faith and her life without being turned into a target.
