DJI Osmo Mobile 6 vs Insta360 Flow 2: Phone Fit, Tracking and Tripod Trade-Offs

DJI Osmo Mobile 6, Slate Gray
Osmo Mobile 6 suits a creator who intends to record inside DJI Mimo and wants its side wheel for zoom or focus. Check DJI’s compatibility list for the exact phone, because physical fit does not guarantee every camera feature.
Pros
- A dedicated side wheel controls zoom or focus in Mimo.
- DJI publishes a shorter full-charge time than Insta360 for these models.
- The extension rod and removable grip tripod support handheld and stationary framing.
Cons
- Its stated phone width and weight ranges are narrower.
- DJI Mimo does not support livestreaming.
- Available camera controls and lenses vary by phone; the battery rating is shorter.
Best fit: Recording in Mimo with a confirmed compatible phone, especially when physical zoom/focus control is useful.

Flow 2 integrates tripod legs into the handle and supports a broader published phone weight range. Its name is close to Flow 2 Pro, but the tracking capabilities are not interchangeable.
Pros
- Integrated tripod legs reduce separate parts for a quick tabletop setup.
- The stated range accommodates lighter phones and phones up to 300 g.
- The optional AI Tracker adds a path to tracking beyond the Insta360 app.
Cons
- The base package does not include the optional AI Tracker.
- Base Flow 2 lacks the Pro model’s Apple DockKit and unlimited pan tracking.
- The ten-hour battery figure is a stationary test, not a walking-and-tracking result.
Best fit: Solo tabletop filming and a broader physical phone range, with accessory planning for other apps.

Compare your phone’s width, thickness and weight with the limits, then check the manufacturer’s model-specific compatibility list. A thick case or attached accessory can change fit and balance. The clamp must also avoid pressing buttons or obstructing the camera.
The overlapping width range is 67–84 mm and both list the same thickness limits. A phone outside DJI’s range may still fall inside Flow 2’s published limits, but those numbers alone do not confirm all software features.
Tracking inside an app is different from tracking anywhere
DJI’s ActiveTrack works through Mimo. DJI says Mimo cannot livestream, so a plan built around tracking during a live broadcast needs a separate compatibility check. Android camera options can also differ from iPhone options; DJI notes that manual ISO and shutter adjustment are unavailable on Android.
Flow 2 tracks within the Insta360 app. The optional AI Tracker can extend tracking to supported native cameras, calls and other apps, but the accessory and exact app support must be checked. Do not buy the base package assuming that a video demonstrating Flow 2 Pro’s DockKit features applies to it.
Battery ratings are planning figures
Insta360’s ten-hour figure uses a stationary, balanced setup at 25°C without its tracker or fill light. DJI’s approximately six-hour-and-24-minute figure uses ideal balanced conditions. These tests are not a shared walking, panning or tracking workload. Neither rating proves how long a full day of active shooting will last.
Choose for your filming routine
Osmo Mobile 6 is the more direct fit when Mimo supports your phone and its zoom/focus wheel is useful. Flow 2 makes sense when you regularly set down the gimbal for solo shots and value integrated tripod legs. In both cases, app compatibility should come before maximum runtime in the buying decision.
